Does anyone know if a US citizen can still stay in the UK for 6 months just on their passport?

Medical Treatment

> I'm not an expatriate but I'm very interested to ask you this question. Where are you from, and where are you now, and what do you think of the medical treatment system in your new country compared with your old one?
I've posted some more questions/details for Australians and Americans who are in Australia or visa versa, in the comm gdaycliche , if you want to know a little about why I'm asking this. But I'm curious in general.

Finally got around to it!

Sorry!

Some people where complaining about the theme to this page so I finally changed it. Yes, a default but I don't have the time to make a fancy, special, theme... just to make sure the porn posts don't show up.

Enjoy!

How integrated are you?

I'm curious as to how 'integrated' people feel in their new lives abroad? In particular if you live in another country where you speak a new language..

Do you mostly hang around with other expats and read books in your native language or are you fully immersed in the new culture? If so, how did you do it?

We're traveling on Lufthansa and our dog will be traveling as luggage.

I can't find anything online specifically as to what we need to provide when we depart or arrive from NYC to Munich in terms of travel health information other then the EU 998 form..

Everyone I ask (vet, airlines, consulate) tell me different things.

Has anyone recently moved from US to EU/Germany with a large dog and can give me a sense of what they needed to bring/provide to get their dog into the country drama free?

Soothie Passifiers in Switzerland

Our child is VERY picky and only likes one kind of passifier - the Soothie brand. Unfortunately, since we've moved to Switzerland, he's chucked two of the three we own over the side of his stroller, never to be found again. The clips that fit the Soothie aren't really well made, and he tends to pull the passifier off the clip.

I need to find both a regular Soothie and the teething Soothie. Anyone know where to find those in the Winterthur or surrounding areas?

Picking an Expat Group?

What do you look for in joining a local expat group? There are quite a few available near me, all with similar annual fees. Some seem to offer a free visit to one of their meetings.

I'm a new arrival to Switzerland, and a new mom, and I unfortunately lost my job when my husband got transferred (originally my bosses said I could work via the internet, but then changed their mind), so I'm now a homemaker as well.

Job hunting tips?

I'm a British ex-pat living in Upstate New York. I've been over here for the better part of a year and i'm having no luck in finding work.
Ideally i'm looking for work in media or the IT sector (although right now i'd even take a job in Starbucks!); I'm well qualified with both Associates and Bachelors degrees as well as several years experience in wide variety of areas. I'm well versed in how to present yourself in an interview and all that (or at least I was back in England)

Am I don't something wrong? is there something about job hunting in the US that is essentially different fro the UK? Does any one have any advice?
